2019 - Boxe
Although I am a football fan (always go Genoa!) I prefer to practice individual sports and in 2019 I decided to try boxing. As always, discovering a new world is extremely fascinating and boxing is truly incredible for the wealth of elements that compose it: discipline, effort, seriousness, competitive spirit, fairplay but also group, fun and friendship. I got to know truly wonderful people, first of all Master Luis Valerio Porcu creator and guide of Thunder Boxing Genoa.
I, for age limits, could not have fought (thank goodness!) But the match is the culmination of many sacrifices and also the moment in which you have to collect the results, deal with what we have done previously. When you step into the ring you have to confront not only with the other boxer but also with a much more formidable opponent: our doubts and insecurities, ourselves.
This was the first time I photographed a meeting and I must say it is not easy at all. As in all sports, the most complicated thing when photographing it is understanding its rhythm and finding synchrony with the event. Not to mention some reminders of the judges because I was staying where I shouldn't...
We have to start somewhere, so these few shots are what I think is interesting to compose my first report on boxing.
